I am over the moon -my book is number one in Calligraphy book sales and it wont even turn up when you search Calligraphy-trying to get that changed! I am also number 2 in Graphic Design Books! and Almost in the top 10,000 list!!
I've posted some images there of book pages if you'd like to take a peek!
I'd like to share this poem with you I received from my friend Hilde, written by a young woman dying of cancer-i dont usually do this -but this really touched me
Have you ever
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a
butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading
You better slow down.
Don't dance so
Time is short.
The music won't
Do you run through each day
When you ask How are you?
Do you hear the
When the day is done
Do you lie in your
With the next hundred chores
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so
Time is short.
The music won't
Ever told your child,
We'll do it
And in your haste,
Ever lost touch,
Let a good
Cause you never had time
You'd better slow down.
Time is short.
The music won't
When you run so fast to get somewhere
miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry
through your day,
It is like an unopened
Life is not a
Do take it slower
Before the song is over.

Yes-the postman knocked on the door and I ran and got my camera-I wanted to document the day the books came!! Im so excited! BUT! the boxes were totally thrashed and one box arrived empty! Heres the sad picture-It looks like the books that did arrive are ok but when I went to the post office even the supervisor had to shake her head! She said to contact the dead letter office-the dead book office? Im sure my publisher will replace them and I have plenty to fill the orders-I have to get my helper in gear -so I hope to have the invoices out and books shipped next week-you can still order from me!! Please see the info at the right. Im currently working on the piece to be included-I think you'll like it!!
More later-I have connected with a couple guys at a local center -and they have agreed to teach me how to do graffitti-these guys are the most amazing artists and I have so much to tell-I will post some of their work-it was so fun today to buy some spray paint just for art-the guy had to unlock it for me!! Im learning so much-okok-back to work!

It is a beautiful summer afternoon-someone once said that those are the two most wonderful words-summer afternoon-I have to agree
I have been really busy with many things-theres the Lettering Conference in Chicago coming up-then I'll be back here for the Long Beach Quilt Conference. I'll have the joy of hosting the Art Girlz and Traci Bautista-my son said to me -"So its gonna be a Art House?"
Next week the book arrives and I met the most wonderful person at Barnes and Noble-Jody-Jean Who has graciously offered to host a Book Signing on Sept 13!( Marina Pacifica Location) More later-but it will be a collage fun day too and wow-
Also I will be Book/ Body Signing aT THE ART BAR! That will be on Sept 6-the Open Studios night-which is great fun-all the artists in Santa Ana open their studios-and CSU Fullerton also has an amazing annex there-and theres bands and open mic and its a great place to wander! More later on that too!
I am getting way ahead of myself-I need to think about the present-Im working on some new quilts and pieces for vending-and the exclusive piece you'll receive when you preorder my book-which I'll personalize for you-I am getting inundated with orders-so AMAZING!
I am so blessed-thank you all for your incredible support-this means so much to me right now at this point! sincerely!-I'll put links on the right in case you'd like to check out the conferences I'll be teaching at!

Oh well-I have had DSL problems for a week-dropped alot and wonky-I really need an IT guy to come and live with me full time! Anyone? I just am not computer literate. So before I get dropped again-quickly! Sabrina was fantastic-just how you think she'd be-but articulate and smart. I really took away tons from her workshop-and a nice little book-the best part was watching her spread gesso and paint on with her hands-and spilling water all over it-I have some amazing ideas for my Chicago class
OH -Carol Parks house was so cool-I got a couple pics of her place but still learning the camera-after I forgot the memory card the first day-doh! I need a camera specialist too-I had the camera at super high DPI or whatever and got a grand total of 8 pictures till I filled the memory card. ANyways- I stayed for dinner on Saturday and wow- Carol is a top notch chef along with being an amazing artist-The feast we enjoyed was incredible-from the mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes to pasta wiht roasted sage and pine nuts-I was so stuffed. Her garden was just delightful -I relaxed in it as I sat with a glass of Chianti and savored the blissful moment-another meant to be moment. The day was beautiful and soft
Oh more tomorrow I hope-maybe pictures soon
